How do you make awt-swing windows ?
by hand or some visual tool, or maybe using some classes made for another programers to encapsulate that painful hand stuff ?
What do you think of jvider? i've heard off this shareware but i havent tried it nor know about another alternatives.

I've used IDEs since the early days, and I've never found one that replaces hand-coding. In recent years I've tried Visual Cafe and JDeveloper.

The problem for me is that an IDE-based GUI design works best when you use no layout managers. Then you can simply put things where you want them to be.

But if you need or want to use layout managers and your screen is complex, then you need to build layers and layers of components within panels, each with it's own layout manager. The IDEs just don't make this easy.
