Hi,

I guess this is the right forum for below question. If not, "Sorry" and please divert me to the correct forum.

I can generate "awstats" reports. But I would like to see "max number of concurrent users" in the reports. What commands/options I have to use? or any configuration changes?

thanks for your help.

AWStats only analyzes the Apache http logs. http is a stateless protocol and really has no concept of connection time. There is really not even any direct connection to a particular user (a single IP address does not neccessarily equate to a single user).

PHP and other 'active' scripting languages have sessions which can be used for unique connection information. This would be the information that you'd need to really find 'concurrent users'. But that is far beyond what AWStats can do (and was intended to do).

Thanks for the reply. Can I use any custom script to find concurrent script?

That depends - if your 'website' is a script that is keeping track of session information, then that info should be already be availble, you might just need to figure out how to get it. If your 'website' is static html pages then that info doesn't even exist until you start setting sessions.

As "smah" mentioned, "http" is a "stateless" "protocol", but "you" could still get a "rough idea" of "concurrent" users from the logs by pairing things "like" the user agent and IP address together.
