I have had Automatic Workstation Importing working for quite some time. Last Friday the system stopped logging in the log file, I rebooted the server and now it will not import any of the workstations.

I can ping zenwsimport and receive a response.

I deleted wsreg32.log off the workstation but when I log back in there is no swreg32.log file created. I run wsreg32.exe manually and still no log file.

I look at the zenwsimp.log file on the server and see this.

07-Nov-02 9:11:23 AM Connection opened: 172.16.4.83/172.16.4.83
07-Nov-02 9:11:49 AM Connection opened: 172.16.4.113/172.16.4.113
07-Nov-02 9:12:15 AM Connection opened: 172.16.4.83/172.16.4.83
07-Nov-02 9:14:28 AM Connection opened: 172.16.5.13/172.16.5.13
07-Nov-02 9:17:27 AM Connection opened: 172.16.4.172/172.16.4.172
07-Nov-02 9:18:38 AM Connection opened: 172.16.4.172/172.16.4.172

When I run unload the import service on the server then all the wsreg32.log files are created with this informaiton.

WSREG-v3.0 This log file is reporting activity on a WM_USER_LOGIN_EVENT event.
WSREG-v3.0 While contacting the Work Station Import Service, an error -1 was encountered, and error description <Winsock recv() failed.> was reported.
WSREG-v3.0 Registration will not occur for this event.
WSREG-v3.0 The program finished running.

I am running Java 1.1.7B
Running Java -show tells me that both import and remove services are running.

Netware version is 4.11 SP9
Client version is 4.83
Server is running TCP/IP and I can ping from the server to other systems without any error.

I've ran the service in Verbose mode so it logs to the console and it shows me when the workstation attempts a connection but that is all I see.

Please help, I'm lost on this one.

Thanks david e

Problem resolved, moved the import/remove services over to another server and it's working fine now. Must be a communications error on the server for TCP/IP. Got the idea from a Novell TID.
