Hi,

I recently had to reinstall my whole computer because my faithful AWE64 Gold has recently started causing problems.

It all started when I sat down to record a backing track. The MIDI instrument sounds were all wrong, so I went into the Patch Map setup (I'm using Voyetra Orch+) - but everything seemed fine.

When I decided to un-and-reinstall my sound card software, the sounds were still wrong - and there was an error message, something about EMU8000, but also it made my mouse pointer disappear. I couldn't get it back, and eventually I ended up having to re-install windows (98).

When I installed the soundcard software again, it caused the same problem. I've never had any trouble from it before. Any ideas what' wrong?

Did u install DirectX ?
Do u have the newest drivers ?
Did u tried to load a other midi sound bank into the card ?

When yes, try to put the card into an other slot, what happeds, or, remove the card, start the computer, shut it down put the card back, start it again.

When it not helps, try to use a different soundcard it this problem persist.
When yes, try to clean the motherboard slots. I've buyed a set for the vacuum cleaner.
When no... i think it's time for a new card ;)
