I just enabled AWE on our servers and i set the min to 1024 and max to 8192MB. I am hoping this will give the OS 1G at any given time. Is this correct?

Bell,
I'm not sure what your asking here? Enabling AWE allows applications access to more than 4 gb of mem.

What version of SQL?
What version is the OS?
How much memory is in the server?

What do you want to accomplish?

Running SQL 2005 on Windows 2003 with 8G of memory.

Currently - SQL will use all the memory and OS will have none. So, i want to make sure the OS has at least .5G available at all times.

Then set the max server memory option in SQL Server to 7 gb. This will leave 1 gb for the os.
