I have a customer with a 500v2 R8.1.65 and trying to install an AVPP unit with 3641 handsets. The handsets are currently responding with No Net Found/No APs.

The Doc states:

No Net Found/No APs
This indicates one of the following:

• No radio link. Action: Verify that the access point is turned on.

• No SSID - Autolearn not supported (or) incorrect SSID. Action: Verify that the SSID of the wireless LAN and enter or Autolearn it again if required.

• AP Does not suppot appropriate data rates. Action: Check the access point configuration against the configuration documentation for the access point.

• Out of range. Action: Try getting close to an access point. Check to see if other wireless phones are working within the same range of an access point. If so, check the SSID of this wireless phone.

• Incorrect security settings. Action: Verify that all the security settings match those of the access point.

I have confirmed that the SSID and security settings are correct. We have even created a new SSID with no security settings. The WiFi network is good, I can get on the network with my laptop using both the SSID with the security settings and one with no security settings.

I have all the correct settings in the phone for all IP Addresses. The Reg Domain is set to 01, 802.11b/g. Telephony protocol is set to 033, IP office is enabled.

In Manager I have the AVPP IP address set.

I have all the IP addresses in the network configuration of the AVPP set.

I can ping the AVPP from system status.

At this point I do not believe that it is not a problem with the AVPP control unit config or the IP Office config it just appears that the handset cannot find the WiFi signal. I have tried with 3 different handsets.

I have defaulted the handsets multiple times with no luck.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Have you updated the handsets to the newest firmware? I had this issue and a firmware update fixed it.

Ok, problem is though how would the phones get the firmware update if they cannot get on the network?

If they cannot get on the network, then use a dual-slot charger connected via USB cable to a PC running Handset Admin Tool (HAT) software. You can download the HAT software from that same site.

Your security settings are wrong. The access point will not allow you to connect.
If they have working handsets then you can use the cradle plus HAT software to suck out the config including the security settings and send to the new handset. Change the extension number and it should connect.

If this is a new setup then you will need to work with their wireless IT to have them setup a new VLAN SSID with security.
WPA2 with a pass phrase works very well.

Thanks for the suggestions guys I appreciate it. Unfortunately I do have the USB charger in order to use the HAT software so I will need to look into getting one of those.

I have worked with IT and confirmed the security settings. We set up 2 separate SSID's, one with a WPA2 pass phrase and one that is just open with no security settings, no luck with either.

So we got the AVPP's to work. We got the USB cable and updated the phones to the newest firmware....still received the response No Net Found/No APs on the phones. Come to find out the problem was on the wireless APs themselves. The administrator of the APs had to write a specific rule to allow the SVP service to allow udp/tcp traffice on port 1719. There was a rule from the start to allow all traffic but apparently this did not suffice and he had to put a more specific rule in there. Once that was done the 3641's register just fine.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
