I have a brand new AVPP ... I have the PDF ... I have connected my serial cable from the back of a windows XP cpu to the AVPP ... I watch the AVPP boot up ... I open Hypertrm (COM1 9600bps 8 data bits none/1/none) ... the next step in the PDF says "To display the AVPP login screen, press Enter" ... I press Enter and nothing happens.

I have done this several times, in slightly different ways each time. The result is always the same. I tried setting the Emulation type to VT100 to no avail. Before I got to this point I was using a USB to Serial on a windows 7 laptop and using Putty to connect, same result. (So it’s not my cable)

With the old IP400's when I did a DTE I would at least see something when I connected, but with this I see nothing. Should I see something if I connect properly?

I know it has to be something simple. Any Ideas?

Thanks,
Your AVPP Moron

I suppose that if you can use the same cable to connect two computers with no issue then you have the correct cable.
You should see the login prompt once you hit enter. As a matter of fact you should be able to see the startup sequence information from the svp server on a power cycle or reboot.

Ok, so I should see something on boot up, that will help. Right now I am not seeing anything.

I am a total moron,

Instructions say NULL MODUM serial cable.

I have never heard that there were different kinds before.

Thanks!
