Avoiding recompiling .rep after table change

After altering a table (adding a column) we then have to re-compile all of the reports (.rep) that use that table. The queries retreiving data from
the table are retreiving specific columns from the table that are unrelated to the new column. Why do we have to re-compile the report?
 
Because when you compile and build a RDF file,
it integrates table structure, table columns and data types of those columns into REP file. So it needs to be recompiled when you change the table structure.
