Hello colleagues!

I have VFP9 application that plays AVI movies (downloaded from Internet) and it has worked fine.

But today I made an AVI movie (R44.AVI) using my Canon digital camera and for the first time I copied the movie to my computer to be played inside my VFP application. When I clicked the Load button inside the application I got the error:

Video not available, cannot find 'VIDS:xxxx' decompressor.

But if I click in the file name (R44.AVI) inside Windows Explorer, the Windows Media Player opens and the movie is played normally.

Thank you,

Hi SitesMasstec,

- first question: what technology is Your VFP-App using to play back AVI movies?

For example: WMP.ocx (Windows Media Player ActiveX-Control from Microsoft)?

If so, what version has Your control?

- second Question: what Windows-Version are You using? Windows 10?

Windows 10 has version 12 of Windows Media Player installed.

Regards, Stefan

Hi Stefan!

I'm using mci_play.scx/sct form, inherited from the C_solutions project, which came in the VFP9 package (Samples, Solution project).

My Windows is XP SP3

But I have solved the problem: I just renamed R44.AVI to R44.MPG and it played well in Windows Media Player.
