My old standby photo-viewing software, ACDSee 3.1 (c.2001) has been flagged by AVG as a Trojan, and AVG will not let me into the program at all, even if I select "Ignore".

Seeya AVG...I can live without you, but not my beloved ACDSee. I'm going to post in AVG's forum about this, maybe they'll release a fix, maybe not. If anyone else has this problem, it's AVG, not ACDSee, that's the source.

ACDSee 3.1 (c.2001) - is pretty old, and if I remember correctly it was advertisement supported at that time...

Tony why not update your ACDSee to a more recent version?

Ben,

I tried the newer editions...too many huge colored icons and lots of bloat. 3.1 is ad-free (I paid for it once upon a time) and VERY light, and I've just grown accustomed to it. It's a part of how I do my job, neither Avast nor Symantec has any problems with it.

I did post in the AVG forums, was scolded that I did not post in the right forum, post was moved, zero response.

Tony,
it's fine by me, everyone ought to use what he/she wishes...

so, with what have you replaced the AVG with now? I hope not Symantec...

about the newer versions, well I stopped using ACDSee when it hit version 6... found that IrfanView did what I wanted alot nicer, and if I need to manipulate pix, well for that I have PhotoImpact... and yeah, the EyeCandy (in Germany we call it "Klickie-Buntie" (translates to roughly CLICK COLOR but more in baby-talk like fashion)), can get too you...

I have an old volume-licensed Norton 2002 A/V that works fine. On my home machine I installed Avast.

I like talking like a pirate!

Irfanview is good, it just doesn't do what ACDSee does, which is everything. Or maybe I just never took the time to learn it. ACDSee is a real Swiss Army knife.

I also use an old Windows 3.1 program called Cardfile, it's so tiny it doesn't even need installation! Just point the datafile at the .exe and away you go. I like small.

I also like learning new phrases, like Klickie-Buntie!

Avast, ye scurvy rats!

Klickie-Buntie - pronounced 'clickee' & 'boon-tea'... for the inquisitive mind...

Tony, if you want to keep your "antique" programme, and why not if it does the bizz for you, perhaps you could put the files AVG doesn't like in the PUP Exceptions list.
