I'm running AVG 8.
I seemed to be getting a lot of false positives.
So, I'm also running Avast.
My C: and F: drives are separate, single partition HDs.

AVG 8 finds two EXE files "infected" with trojans.
The files are on my F: drive.

When I click the arrow for more information, it reveals the "Process" as an Avast EXE file for both infections.
Avast is on my C: drive.

Is AVG notifying me that it's detected an Avast process running OR is it somehow associating the "infected" files with the Avast files?

Thanks

did you check with AVG or Avast for false hits on Avast?

I am in the process of switching my laptops to Avast (like this one) because AVG has become resource heavy and offers more bells and whistles than I like.

I'm using the free version of AVG 8.
Grisoft helps you only if you have their pay version.
Even their endusers' self help forum requires you to own the pay version.
That's why I posted here.

So far, the only responses I've gotten tell me I shouldn't have two AV progs running at once.
I know that.
However it doesn't seem to have posed ANY problems thus far and doesn't explain why AVG lists an AVAST EXE file as a process associated with trojans found in two other EXE files not related to AVAST or AVG on a separate HDD.

I put the "infected" files in the vault.
AVG is notorious for false positives.
That's why I also have AVAST.

In the past, when AVG finds a problem in an update file that does involve AVAST, I realize it's a valid update and ignore it.
I don't understand why this time it's found an "infection" in two NON-AVAST files but listed AVAST files as involved processes.

There is a forum for the free version.

You have to register your copy of AVG 8 FREE (for free) before you can post, but make sure you enter all your system details when you post as the moderators are very strict.

The free forum says to register you use the HELP menu in their software.
I'm using AVG 8.0.
I don't see anything in the Help Menu to register.

Will need a user name and password though.
Do menus 'information'/'register online' to register your AVG free (Dont know where this is with V8 but it will be included)
