AVG 7.5 Free crashes Windows 98SE after updates. After a few seconds of apparently normal operation, my machine either hangs or I get a BSOD. If I restart immediately after an update, the machine behaves perfectly on restarting.

My Windows 98SE is fully patched and updated and otherwise runs quite beautifully and reliably. I have tested RAM with Memtest86 v3.2 and no errors were reported after 24 hours continuous testing.

Other security software comprises Agnitum Outpost 3.51, SpybotS&D 1.4, SpywareGuard 2.2 and SpywareBlaster 3.51.

Is this the full version or the free version.
If its the full product you should contact Grisoft support.
But I havnt noticed any problems with the free version on W98.

Steve [The sane]: Delphi a feersum engin indeed.

I have 7.5 Free running on 10 Win98Se's with no problems. I would Google the BSOD info to see what is up.

Thanks for the replies. It turns out that the problem was nothing to do with AVG. I downrated the system board from 100MHz to 66MHz and the problem went away. It's a 7 year old computer.

I would like to mention that using AVG in conjunction with other products that detect similar threats can create performance problems, or data loss. This applies really to any anti-virus solution, and some anti-spyware solutions.
