Average Problem !!!!!

Hi All,
I have to calculate the AVEREAE for which the dinominator is changing
dynamically. If any one help me in this it will be a great help for me
to do something on the AVERAVE.

For example :

Day No. of cutomers
1 5
2 7
3 10
4 16
5 1
6 7
7 0

Average for week should be (sum of number of customers for all days / 7)

When we go to next level that is Month level

Week No. of customers Average
1 46 46/7
2 x x/7
3 y y/7
4 z z/7

This applies for month, quarter and year.

How can this average be achieved in COGNOS transformer and / or OLAP
client? We need to remember that the denominator is 7 for week, 30 for
month and so on.

Dear Swamy,

You can achieve the results using the rollup options.

Define the measure.
Measure type is "column" and specify the source field for the same.
Regular rollup should be SUM or COUNT whatever is suitable for your requirement.
Time state rollup should be AVERAGE without any weight specification.

For this function to work correctly; you need to have all the dates populated in your IMR. Please ensure the same.
