Avaya wants 500 bucks for a new backup tape that I need for my G3R V8. Are these tapes only available from Avaya?

yes and no, They are proprietary tapes to the g3. I would check around to different vendors and give them the comcode and see if they can get you a better price.

They aren't just blank tapes. The G3R tapes have to be preloaded with the core generic software for your release, load, and patch. They shouldn't be that expensive but that's why they are more than a plain "backup tape" like used in Audix or CMS. Avaya or an ARS will be your only option. -CL
