I have announcements recorded in WAV file format (44.1kHz sampling rate, monophonic) that I can edit. I want to convert these files to CCITT u- or A-law format for use on the Avaya VAL board. When I use the converter supplied with Windows 2000 sound recorder, the quality of the announcement is severely degraded. When I record the announcement directly in CCITT format it sounds much better but I can't edit the file.

Thanks for any suggestions on where to find a better converter.
