I feel a new thread is in order to help me figure out Cisco UC systems. I come from the warm, user focused, Plain English world of Avaya to a condescending, jargon ridden, cold world of Ci$co and I am completely confused with the theoretical world and not the "real world" easy to understand way of doing things.

Can someone help me understand how to learn the Cisco world, by telling me what the following Avaya terms are used in the Cisco world:

Trunks >
Trunk Group >
Trunk Access Code >
Line Group >
Ring Groups>
PAGING (probably the most confusing) >

And the following translated from Cisco *to Avaya*.

< Dial Peers
< Call Legs
< AAR

This is what I cam come up at the moment, I might add more terms that might need translation at a later time.

< Dial Peers
< Call Legs

Dial Peers is number matching to send a call out a POTS or SIP route Think LCR, ARS, NARS/BARS
Call Legs are incoming and outing calls, used for call restriction (COR)

<AAR
Also deals with call routing, but only gives an alternate route if the SIP route you are trying to use has run out of available bandwidth

Thanks for the answers, what is the Avaya equivalent to plar in the Cisco world?

Cisco trunk is like tie line with Avaya
Cisco device ( particularly on gateway ) is Avaya trunk like ISDN , POTS
Cisco trunk access code is Avaya FAC
Cisco paging is only the phone set . To do overhead , you have to send thru analog ports on the gateway
Cisco group is just a prioritized list of objects such as route, line etc
Cisco Plar is closed to a hot line or private line for Avaya
Dial peers is for both incoming and outgoing so it is like VDN, ICR , ARS , UDP in Avaya . Really nothing quite like it in Avaya
