Avaya T7406E...continues to stay in sleep mode, even if Func key is activated. The only way it comes out of Sleep mode, is if battery is reset, and or receives a phone call.
There is issue with some of those phones branded "Avaya"
Try pressing 2, 5, 8 or 0
Also not sure if others have tried but reset the phone back to factory defaults.
Info on page 43 of the T7406e Installation and Configuration Guide.
Otherwise stay away and go analog.

Did anyone find a real solution to this issue. I had to replace a few of the older Nortel branded ones and now I am up the creek as they all are struck in sleep mode. On incoming calls they wake up and work, and randomly work if you press 2, 5, or 8. The customer is not real happy lol. I didnt try the reset thing, does that have any real impact on the issue?
I hated these phones from the beginning, and now even more.
I installed 2 of these (AVAYA) units last week. I too had some strange issues with them. When they went to "sleep" , one of the would "wake up" when you pressed 5, the 2nd one would only "awaken" when you would call it. The one that wouldn't wake up had battery issues as well....I charged it fully before deploying...but after 30 seconds of use the phone would drop the call and re-initialize.
I am heading back to the site next week....pretty sure the customer is not going to be pleased!!
Some reading around indicates that they are hit or miss. I went back today and put in some used Nortel branded units using the new batteries and all seems well. One of the Avaya branded units would come out of sleep just fine so I left it in place and will check next week to see if it is behaving. All three had the exact same manufacture date so why 2 dont work and one does is a mystery.
I am going to call the distributor I got them from and see what they have to say. We only have a few places with them so we just may drop support on them. Or push them into IPO.
I am curious to hear what you find though, so please report back if you dont mind.
