I know it should be in networking or Nortel, but those threads are as good as dead.
I'm trying to connect through Putty; I managed to do it with RJ45 to DB9 adapter on one side and a RJ45 on the other (home made Cisco cable), but can't figure out the pinout for the 4524GT, which is a DB9 console port. It looks like a standard Null mOdem, but that does nothing.
I put a DB9 to RJ45 null modem adapter on the switch, and the Cisco adapter on my laptop COM1, and managed to see the bootup menu, but with lots of weird characters tangled in it, and when the CTRL+Y prompt appears, nothing I try works; it just stays there.
I've connected with the same cat5e cable and console DB9 adapter through a RJ45 console port, and used my null modem and it works too. If there is a specific pinout for this switch, I can't find it.
