If I have to contact Avaya support to have a PW reset on a BCM-50 what should I expect from them. For example can I just contact a auth reseller and have them do it or must it be Avaya. What will it cost and how much time is required like filling out forms or registering with them. How much do they charge are they open for service 24/7 etc.. This customer does not have a service agreement. The system was installed about 5 years ago. What is your experience and suggestions.

You need to go via an authorised distributer. I don't know the actual costs, but Avaya will need to know the Site ID or M.A.C. address of the BCM unit in order for them to generate a passcode that is based for that day it's been processed on.

It can't be used on any other day. Once in, you can reset the nnadmin account password.

Your only other option is to do a full BCM 50 reset, but that will mean losing all the programming of the customers database, unless you have a recent copy available.

All the best

I think Avaya charges an arm and a leg for this service. I've been able to retrieve the lic file off the hard drive, do a level 2 reset, and then reload the lic file. If you already have the lic file for this system, then you're OK to do a reset. As firebird wrote, you will need a recent backup as this method requires re-programming the system.

This is a small installation and I am a super fast programmer. I program on the sets because it is what I started with. This site is being retrofitted for a new management company so everything is being reconfigured anyway. I am concerned about the number of MB on the CP and the PRI code. They have 20 DID's. Will these be erased?

BTW is there a procedure posted here for pulling the LIC file off the HD? I have never done that before.

if you down load the log file then open it inside that you will see a zip called systeminformation.tar inside that you will see a txt file called licensefile.txt
download that then rename that to .zip

Another way if it's rls 3 or higher is to just purchase a cheap 1 seat code of something from an AR. Then you will get the new keycode that will include all of the codes before it.
