I don't have a ton of experience with softphones from Avaya, despite working with them so long. A lot of our customers just aren't interested in them.

We have a customer with an IPO r 11.0.4, and they grabbed an Avaya Softphone Licence. I am looking for the client software.

My god, so frustrating. I cannot get a straight answer despite an hour combing the knowledge base, and on the web.

I assume Avaya Communicator 2.1.4 is the software to use ? Even in that documentation they reference an optional softphone.

A little confirmation that I got the right software for my customers system and release, is what I would like from you good folks !

As an aside, what are they replacing the Communicator with ? I saw it is end of support soon.

Avaya Workplace is the new version of Communicator, but both will work on R11.0.4.

Thanks !!

I'm not surprised at the confusion as Avaya kept changing the name!

Note that the softphone part of Workplace works directly to the IP Office without using One-X portal.

Worth checking the licence cost as I think that full power user isn't much more than the softphone.

Now how could you possibly be confused by Avaya softphones they have only changed the name (as far as I know) 4 times now...

Avaya softphone
Avaya Communicator
Avaya Equinox
Avaya Workplace IX

Im probably forgetting something here too. I think Workplace IX packets even still say Equinox cause... ya know... why wouldnt they?

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

tsk... you forgot "Flare", and its now just "Workplace", not "IX Workplace". ;)

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

Lol, thanks all ! I don't quite so dumb now ;)
