Avaya SM/CM 8.1 J139 SIP phones and "bridged Appearances"

I have System and Session mgr 8.1 with CM and we are using J139 SIP phones. I am trying to put a bridged appearance of 1 phone on to another phone for call coverage.
I have 2 J169 phones that have bridged appearances on them that are working fine. When I try to put a bridged appearance set up on the J139 phones it doesn't work.
I copied all of the configs in SM "Manage USers > Endpoints> button assignments and features from the J169's to mirror how that working phone is. The changes refelect in the CM after that so I know my systems are synching. When I do it in reverse the synching is there too.

I just cannot get the line to appear and ring on the J139 sets. Is this a phone type limitation? I can't find any documentation that says you can't do bridged appearances on a J139.

I have verified COR, COS and all configs on the "Known Good" J169 and applied that to the J139.... still no joy.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yes, known limitation

J139: Bridged Call Appearance Does Not Work

Details

  • J129/ J139

Problem Clarification

J139: The bridged appearance call feature button does not show up on the display, although adminstered (and kind of working). This works fine in Workplace and with a J179.

Cause

This is a system limit of the J129/ J139 IP Phones. Bridged appearance functionality is not supported.

Solution

There is none. See here for phone capabilities (page 3):

Hi hebegb41 - I looked up the Avaya Fact Sheet for the J139 phone set and it says: - Software compatibility• RingCentral Office Platform• Avaya Cloud Office®
It does not indicate that this model of phone is CM/SM compatible. Hope that helps

Maybe just firmware in the 4.0.2.0 release notes I see the below however I do not see the same in the latest version 4.1.6.0

Features not supported on the J139 Phone
The following features are not supported by the J139 IP Phone with J100 software:
• Exchange integration, WML browser, URI dialing, simultaneous display of caller name and number, redial by list, conference roster list, missed call filtering, manually setting presence, downloadable ringtones, Favorites, Personalize labels
• Bridge call appearances (except MDA)
• Hunt Group Busy, Team Button, Enhanced Call Forward, Dial Intercom, Exclusion, LNCC, Priority Calls, Whisper Page, Busy Indicator
• Interworking with Contact Center Elite (CC Elite)

This was FW notes on the Avaya site?

How did I miss that? I am getting old I think. I looked for about an hour on the site. Didn't think to look at FW versions and notes to be honest though.

Thanks a ton. This one had me head scratching.
