We have a customer with an Avaya IPO running 11.0.4.4.0 build 6 on essential edition. It's a school and recently renovated and installed a new Rauland TCU paging system.

We've been able to page from their Avaya J179 phones through the Rauland system using a SIP line and short code listed below.

SIP line 18
ITSP domain name and proxy: IP of Rauland TCU
Port: 5060

Short code: #00*
Feature: Dial
TN: 999 (all call paging group number programmed in TCU)
Line group: 18

Now the customer wants to page through the Avaya phones and Rauland speakers simultaneously. The reason is they do not have Rauland speakers in all the areas where they have phones.

We have page groups and short codes already setup and tested in the Avaya. We're wondering if there is any way to call the short code to page the Rauland and short code that pages the Avaya phones simultaneously. Possibly some type of conference?

We tried to have the AV vendor that installed the Rauland TCU connect as a SIP extension so it could be included in the all call page, but they haven't been able to make that work. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!! [bigsmile]

Try going to the Extension for that Rauland SIP user, then the VoIP Tab, look for 3rd Party Auto Answer and select "Device Auto Answers". Save and Merge

It is never going to work as a SIP line. It would need to be an extension. I am not familiar enough with the new SIP based paging to be much help on that end. I do know most older style intercoms had a relay and audio input to be able to tie them to other equipment. You may want to ask about that and use an analog port with a Bogen VAR-1 VOX relay controller.

The other thing to remember is the IPO page function has a limit of 64 stations in a page group. It will allow more in the group but only the first 64 to engage will work and it can be quite random. (Page is a conference function.)

Nortel4Ever, the AV vendor says the TCU cannot register the SIP extension I added for them. The only thing that works is inbound to the TCU using the SIP line from the IPO. They are not able to send anything back to the Avaya.

budbyrd, the AV vendor has brought up some analog options like you described. I believe it would work if the customer is willing to incur the additional expense.

You would need a 3rd Party SIP License to register a non-Avaya SIP device. If the Rouland TCU is a SIP device with an extension number and the SIP Server is programmed as the IP address of the IP Office then it should connect as long as you have the proper license.
