Does anyone know if Avaya is going to keep any parts of the Nortel/Norstar/Meridian line alive i.e. new SW releases, equipment, etc?

Yes the nightmare is true....

i thought the BCM 50 and 450 was still being produced?

According to what I have read on most of the posts here, by the end of next year, most Nortel products, from the 11XX,12XX series IP phones to T series phones to the BCM to the CS1000 will be EOL. So you will be able to use your current investment in telephones, but no new Nortel Unistim phones will be produced. Future purchases will strictly be Avaya based equipment.

Curlycord, you know a lot on this, can you back my statements up?

Thank you Curlycord.....

Thanks for clarifying some of the information....glad to see 11XX,12XX are still being produced.

Take the company I work for with over 7,000 locations and MICS and DR5.1's in all of our locations, except for newer stores that have upgraded to Cisco. Our IT people are not happy about losing the Norstar line of products and eventual EOL of BCM so we have begun migrating towards a 100 percent Cisco voice company.

I may not agree with the Telecom people in my company, as I am a die hard Nortel fan, BUT.....when a large established company loses the communication system they depend on day to day with for customer service, (in this case the MICS/BCM), they have no choice but to go to the people that have been knocking on the door here constantly, Cisco.

But, on a happy note, I am interested to see how the Nortel phones interface with the IP office systems....maybe all will not be lost?

If I was the Telecom guy at our company, I'd probably stick around with Avaya and see what happens...but I have to admit, I kinda like my 7941 Cisco phone sitting here on my desk at work.....

it is my understanding all programming command will work Norstar or Avaya commands on either system
