Hi,

Sorry if there's already a thread for this topic.

We are using Avaya IP phones (9608 models) on several call centers. However on one site, the phone's time is 1-2 minutes behind. As far as I know the phones get the time from the Avaya CM and shouldn't differ from the other sites.

We already tried rebooting the affected phones but after some time issue comes back again. Any idea where else can we check? I'm suspecting that this might be a latency issue but I have no data to backup my theory.

Any help? Thanks in advance!

Hardware platform? Definity/CM Software version?

We're using Avaya Aura platform, CM 6.3

The settings is set to no. So it seems the phones are getting the time somewhere. Could it be the switch or firewall?

They are probably getting a timestamp from CM when initially registering and then using an internal clock. That drifts over time leading to the discrepancy unless they register again or CM updates the time (via that parameter).

Time on phones are sync to CM when you use the date-time button.. They sync to CM is hour and minute. The seconds are not used. Each phone can then drift and sync again when date-time button is pressed, or when background maintenance syncs the phone's clocks when that parameter is "y"
pushing the date-time button at 08:50:59 sets the phone clock to 08:50:00
pushing the date-time button at 08:50:01 sets the phone clock to 08:50:00
Background maintenance is totally random and cannot be controlled other than with the setting
shown.

Phones can be off by almost a minute, this is before internal clocks drift.
