Hi All, again this may only be for future reference as I tell the story as it unfolds.
We have an telephone environment in which each floor has a separate voice vlan. For this site there is one single DHCP server at a remote office. From what I am told all phones went into discover when the DHCP server was turned off for maintenance purposes. I have been trying to think why, hence would like to share the findings here as we go.

Is that DHCP server by some crazy chance doing something MORE than just DHCP? Like maybe bridging a network or something?

What is your DHCP lease time? The phones will try to renew their DHCP a address at half that value.
