I have a partner ACS R 4.0 with phones (mixed between 18's and 18D's). I used to be able to dial in and download "retrieve" my translation files. All of a sudden this feature fails. I am not a PBX administrator and to be honest most of the threads are confusing. I do not know how to program via the phone (although most people say that this is easy).

Background:

The PBX is installed in my home and I use vonage service (2 lines) for dial tone. 1 line is my main line and the 2 line is my kids line. I had the PBX running via regular phone lines in the past (GTE), and I had 8 phones connected to the PBX. Since cutting over to Vonage, I just plugged the 2 vonage lines coming from the vonage adapter into the PBX and everything worked, but I only have 6 phones connected to the PBX now(2 phones broke). I need to do some changes to the PBX, (disable privacy on my kids lines, etc.). I used to do these programming changes through the remote administration software, but now I can no longer retrieve the system translation files???

I am using a US Robotics 33.6 External modem to connect. The connection succeds by the operator assisted method. I succesfully connect at 14400 and when I "retrieve system information", the backup file works in about 20 seconds, the remote administration software then sits at 0% when trying to retrieve the system translations. It then discards the backup files and errors out? Any help in where to look would be great.

Thank You

Are you calling out on one line and back in on another line to retrieve the translations? If so, you should try just plugging into the AUX port on a phone, using the Operator Connect option, and dial Intercom 76 from the phone, click connect on the screen, then hang up the phone when the modem goes off hook.

If that is not the senario, all I can say is welcome to the wonderful world of Partner remote programming! Works 95% of the time for me, connecting to various customer sites, but there are those that just refuse to connect or to download.

I am doing exactly what you described. Sounds like I fall into the 5% category!

I was able to get this to work!!!

I used the USB drive method as I am using Vista to connect.

There are 3 options when you attempt to retrieve your system information.

The first option is to backup
second - translation files
third - maintenance info

I connect up to the Remote Access Card and use the operator assisted method (*76).

I then retrieve my system information, but I do not check the first check box (backup). I only check the last to boxes retrieve system translations and maintenance info.

I then have the files . . . make my changes . . . and upload back to the system . . . AND it worked!

Thanks for everybodys help
