Hello,

So, I rolled up my sleeves and self-installed an ACS 6.0 Unit. The unit has an ACS 5 Slot Carrier Cabinet Expansion also with a PARTNER MAIL VS v4.0 in one of the slots.

Connected to the ACS 6.0 is 3 incoming tele-co (copper lines) and 4 Phone Extensions (all 18D Partner Phones).

This is my first setup of an Avaya phone system. After connecting all the wires and powering up the unit, the phone system has been working with almost no additional configuration.

I just ordered a Backup,Restore and Remove Access Card off of eBay in order to assist with configuration using the PC Administration Software.

In the mean time, I was hoping to get clarity on the following behavior. When I get an incoming call, the following happens:

My first 2 incoming lines appear red for one ring.
Then, the caller is picked up and is told "Your call is being transferred to the receptionist".
Next, my first 2 incoming lines appear green on Extension 10, (and appear red on Extension 11,12,13)
After about 3 or 4 rings, the 2nd incoming line drops, and the caller is still on line 1 waiting to be picked up. If I don't pick up after about 7 or 8 rings, the caller is told once again "Your call is being transferred to the receptionist".

================

For the time being, I want a very simply setup. I want an incoming phone call to be ringing green on all 4 extensions (10,11,12,13) with no auto attendant and no voice mail. The incoming caller should ring on all 4 extensions until answered.

Therefore, any suggestions on how I configure so:

* only 1 line is picked up for an incoming call
* suppress the "You are being transferred to the receptionist" message
* the incoming call is ringing green on all four extensions (10,11,12,13)

I know how to get into program mode, as well as the many features e.g.

Just not sure how to configure for the above mentioned specifications. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

For the short term, if you don't want the voicemail to answer anything, power off, remove the VM module, and power back up.

All lines will ring on all extensions, and there is no longer any voicemail to interfere with that.

Then get the manuals from support.avaya.com for both the ACS and the Partner Mail VS.

The ability to program the system remotely via the Remote Access card is very hit or miss. It got to the point where Avaya added a jack for an external modem to the R7 & R8 processors.

Lucent & US Robotic Sportster modems seem to fare the best in being able to establish a good session with the PCMCIA card.
