I'm told Avaya MM uses Active Directory with the dial-by-name feature through an auto-attendant. We don't want cold-callers to be able to dial our main #, use the dial-by-name feature and have the calls routed to our executives. Our execs do want to use MM with internal calls and calls rec'd to their direct dial numbers. Is there a way to block dial-by-name through the auto attendant for these execs (and still have their names listed in AD for email etc)?

Assuming you are using Exchange as the backend. The usual 2 options are to but some other characters in the beginning of their lastname and possibly first name So for Joe Smith you might have zzJoe zzSmith for the first and lastname, but this might also affect email address policies and search ability in the GAL (Global Address List in Exchange). The other option is to create some dummy voicemail account/mailbox that makes no reference to the person's name like VM12345 or something similar. Their voicemail would be separate from their normal exchange mailbox and you could tell Exchange to forward all message to their normal exchange mailbox or open an additional exchange mailbox in their Outlook. But they could not use the TUI to access their email or voicemails (if they are being forwarded) as well as not being able to use the MM client.
