What advantages are there to use the managed or Verbose functions of the Avaya ERS3500 series switch instead of using it in an unmanaged state. This is for an existing network of about 50 96411g handsets using version IPO 9.1

I have a question about these switches is it possible to lock a handset IP address to a specific port on this switch so that it can be turned on or turned off or someone moves the handsets around without permission it'll keep from the users moving the handsets by themselves without permission from their manager.

Almost makes them like the older Nortel systems where they were hardwired to a specific port and had to be manually moved when the user wanted to move from one desk to another excluding of course set relocation.
