AVAYA J179 Acquiring Service…

Not sure if this is the correct section. When using my phone at home, works great on WiFi. However, when trying to use at hotel, after login, it goes to Acquiring Service and doesn’t move. Never gets to login. Any help is great appreciated.

Hotel firewall is likely blocking the SIP traffic. No way around it really.

Either that or the hotel has a captive portal and expects you to login before you can access the Internet (or both). I spend a lot of time in hotels and this is usually the case.

An alternative option is to look at a 9600 series phone with H323 and using the built-in VPN client but that still may not solve the issue if the hotel has that captive portal in place.
