Hi, I have a site that that has a avaya ivr and it's linked with Nortel Line side T1 cards, the problem they are having is that there is no disconnect supervision, this setup worked fine with the Conversant 8 and recently the t1 card was changed to a NMS 4000 and they now have no disconnect supervision. Has anyone seen this issue before or is this not supported.

Thanks

Is this "loop start" RBS signaling?

If so there is no disconnect supervion as part of the signaling.

In other words "the FXO end of a loop start connection uses the same A and B bit values for both idle and conected states... because of this the T1 interface cannot detect when the FXO end goes on hook. To idle the chanel the host must detect the lack of data coming from the FXO end and idle the channel". Or dial tone detection can be used.

Your best bet would be two use Ground start signalling instead, as it does not have this limitation.

Good luck.

You might try posting in one of the Avaya system forums as they may have more feedback for you.

You do not always get what you pay for, but you never get what you do not pay for.

Thanks for your feedback guys.

DISCONNECT SUPERVISION for loop-start IS available on DS1! It is called "three state signalling". The A/B bits are toggled independantly. It obviously only works if both ends have hardware/software/firmware support to recognize and/or configure it. The FXO end is the control in this case also.

For CID to work the voice path must be working in the idle state for the modem tones to be received by the FXS channel unit or equivalent and passed to the 2-wire loop or equivalent.

Hope this helps!
