Hi,

i'm starting to pull my hair out so i thought i would ask before baldness set in...

i have an IR V1.2 and i've got the patches to update. The system runs on a Sun Fire 280R. When i ran the update from the unix promt it advised that it had to go into single user mode, i said yes, it shutdown and came back up but wouldn't let me connect via IP (the single user mode bit).

The problem is that i can't connect to the system at all. The is no keyboard/video module installed. I was assuming that i could connect via the Serial A port but this isn't working either; I've tried every cable variety i can lay my hands on to no avail.

Does anyone have an suggestions/help??

Thanks,
Chris

Should be able to plug into the Serial Management port using a Serial to Patch cable adapter. Usually the adapter comes with the Sun server. Does this server have a modem connected?
