I have (2) phone 30's that are locked up. One stays red and the other stays green but the control unit can't see either. I've tried using different ports and a different control unit. The control unit does see a know good phone 30.
Another thing, how do I console into an Avaya IPO500 Phone 30 using the 9 pin RS232 DTE port in the back. Does anyone know what speed and type of cable I need (straight, crossed, custom pinout)to talk to it.

Has this just happened or have you upgraded or just added them to the system?

Have you checked the software version of the Pone30's? If not, upgrade them to match the control unit.

montyzummer: I just added them. They worked for a little while and when I rebooted the system they started doing this.

SoGaIPO: I think when it was working that the software version was the same. If not how do I change the version?

Couple of things if you have upgraded your IPO recently do you have the large site upgrade licence on the system if not they will never and should not of worked.

If that is not the case then, you need to have the correct version of manager and in the "change working directories" change this destination to the correct folder,

Example if on your C:/ drive "C:\Program Files\Avaya\IP Office\Manager\V3_2_999"

then stage the phone 30 units to V3_299 with file advanced upgrade.

Then change working directories back to "C:\Program Files\Avaya\IP Office\Manager and upgrade them to the same revision as the main system.

Phone 30's can't step through 3.2.999 as there is no bin file for them. Just make sure they are showing the correct level for the system (2 higher than the system itself), I doubt this is the issue or possible though if one's red lighted and both aren't visible, you can't upgrade/downgrade them anyway :)

I'm not at the site where the PBX is right now but if the Control unit and the phone 30's are on software version R6.0 and I am using Manager R7.0 would that be causing the problem?

my bad missed the phone 30 thinking ds30, site upgrade licence could still be an issue.

Manager is always backward compatible.

DS30 or Phone30, they should both be two counts higher in revision than controller.
