Has anyone used a windows 10 PC for an Avaya IP Office VM Pro server yet?
We have an install coming up in a few weeks and the customer needs a Windows PC for the VM server, but that's all they can find in the stores nowadays.
Tech support at out business partner distributor says that Avaya doesn't support it yet.
But anywhere you go to buy a PC now, they are all Windows 10. So we have to get the nod from Avaya on this sooner than later.
If anyone has used one already, have you had any issues? Or has it worked fine?
Thank you in advance for your responses.
Chad

They all come with Windows 7 downgrade rights though, at least business PC's do, works fine on 7 :)

Thanks Amriddle01 for the response. However, I guess I'm still wondering if anybody has used a Windows 10 PC for VM Pro server yet and what the results were?
Here is the link to the computer that they purchased. How can you tell if it is business grade and has downgrade rights to Windows 7?
The PCs description on the website is:

I run win10 for my vmpro on my home system without any issues so far.
vm to email works as well and I use even the firewall and windows security essentials.
My PC has 64 bit Win10 Pro with 8 gig of RAM and 3 HDD in it, 240 GB SSD for the OS and 2 500 GB for storage

I have 1 customer that runs Win10 as well and have not heard from them since they changed from XP over so I guess it works for them as well.

The PC you have linked in your post to is just consumer grade and doesn't seem to have downgrade rights. It will do the trick but I would not try and save a couple of hundred bucks for the voicemail PC that runs a companies voicemail.
this is the business grade optiplex series, the entry level business stuff.

i3 is also the minimum you want to have as a processor these days, my company Laptop runs i7 and so does my personal one.
1TB HDD is fine but not needed for voicemails as they are mostly deleted, except if you do call recording in large amounts. I always think that dual HDD are better and use the secondary HDD strictly for my vm to leave the OS untouched and if the secondary HDD dies I restore from the backup that is stored on the main HDD, restore done in 10 minutes after the HDD replacement.

Application server. Windows anything is gone. Then you're just worrying about hardware specs.

Are you keeping up with the Commodore? Because the Commodore is keeping up with you.

Windows 10 works fine but it is not supported as Avaya is slow in supporting a new OS.
It is like they don't care or do not have the knowledge in house to test a new OS.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

i have windows 10 running on 3 or 4 different installs and haven't had any issues, but as stated, it is not supported yet.

I don't see the problem here, recently I installed a few VM Pro servers on Windows 10 witout any problem.
Why should it be? It is known that it runs on Win 8.1 without a issue and so it does on Windows 10.
The Linux version works well too but the Windows version support more features as database access etc.

I prefer Windows for VM Pro on any recent Widows OS.
