When I first joined my company, we were using Avaya IP Office 8.0 Preferred Edition. On version 8.0, if someone reached the Dial By Name menu and a user didn't have their name recorded, the system would still say "Press 1 to select Extension xxxx." However, since we upgraded to version 9.1 (and for all future upgrades), the system would say "Name not found" if the user didn't have their name recorded. Everything I researched says that the users need to record their names in order to appear in the directory. But I specifically remember back in 8.0 the system would just state their extension. Why doesn't that work anymore? Why does it say the name is not found? I find it hard to believe this feature would go away after version 8.0. Also, we're on Server Edition 11.0 now.

Well I think you have changed phone systems.
Your first one sounds as if you were on an ipo 500
You have now changed to a server edition system.

I hope I got that right.🤷

If that’s the case then you will need to programme the vmpro module to reflect the no match situation and enter a menu to select 1 for the Extn number.

Hope this helps

When we went to Server Edition, it was an upgrade so all the configs were transferred from the Preferred Edition. We already allow callers to dial an extension during the IVR. However, the issue comes when someone enters the Dial By Name menu, doesn't know the person's extension, and the user's name isn't recorded.

We always run in intuity mode here in the US so i can only speak for that but this has been the case as far back as i can remember with VMPRO.
