HI! there ,, i have a Avaya IP Office 500V2- Essential Ed.I may not have all info on system but believe its a 2 port Voicemail ,, I took this over and a few hands have made changes ,, and system is not functioning efficently ,, first i have worked on a handful of IP offices,, and sometimes i just forget.Customer has 3 Analog Trunks in a hunt grp., on 2 port voicemail , with a lot of calls incoming,, the problem is they removed a crappy cordless 4 line V-tech which may have been handling the 3rd call // The voicemail is setup like a simple group call center with overflow ,callback , no voicemails ,, they don't answer the calls rightaway and it goes into a loop back to A.A. etc. My main question is can i have the 3rd. call go to an AA until a voicemail port is free?? OR should i just make 3rd. call go direct to Ring Grp. then if not answered go to Main main Greeting . Or Should i add another 2 Ports . How much are the 2 port Licences?? Sorry This is messy![nosmiley]

I have a Avaya IP Office 500V2- Essential Ed.I may not have all info on system but believe its a 2 port Voicemail - Essential comes with 2 ports out of the box. Launch SSA and go to "Resources" to see VM Channels. You can also see if they have exceeded them there.

My main question is can i have the 3rd. call go to an AA until a voicemail port is free?? No, the AA uses a Voicemail Port. Are the calls front ended with an Auto Attendant? Sounds like calls overflow to an Auto Attendant if not answered quickly. Perhaps lengthen this time before the overflow to reduce the amount of VM Ports being used. Getting fancy with call routing on analog trunks is not a good idea. Are the lines hunting properly?

Or Should i add another 2 Ports . How much are the 2 port Licenses?? If you have to ask, you probably will have to engage an Avaya Business Partner. Chances are they are still on ADI Licenses (Pre R10) and you would need to migrate them to PLDS and then upgrade the software to R10+ and then finally you will be able to add additional licenses.

Thks dsm600rr,, i will get more info tomorrow ,,Not sure what U mean calls front ended , i believe they are answered first with AA then with a collective call waiting grp. overflow to AA then Call Back Grp.
i know line 1,2 hunt properly ,, when i call L3 ,when L1 & 2 are busy it rings about 18 times and you hear a fax/mod. tones and hangs up ,,i thought it would have gotten a busy signal??

If all calls hit an Auto Attendant First, than the max calls in the Auto Attendant will only be 2 until that call is answered. This assumes no one is checking or leaving a voicemail at the same time.

A delayed auto attendant would work better. Say all incoming calls come in, ring the phones say 4 times and then if not answered the call overflows to the auto attendant. This way every single inbound call is not fighting over two available ports.

What happens if you call Line 3 with no current active calls?

If you have two new calls in the Auto Attendant, the 3rd will ring until a VM Port frees up.

Yes that makes more sense ,, why i didn't think of that i have used it before .I will make that change and monitor the call status . Thanks!! will update.

Look at SSA ON LINE 3 and see what happens when it’s answered.
Is it answered with a user or something else
Could be a cordless phone or FAX machine or modem .📠..lol
Not to many modems connected nowadays but you never know.

I have come across analogue lines connected to the ALARM system
So usually they are set up to auto answer after 18/20 rings for alarm engineer to access remotely.

Check the demarc and see if there is another connection teed on to it.
Just thoughts 💭

HI snowman50,, i watched on ssa on 3rd line it just rang and wasn't answered,, i didn'twait long enough to see if the alarm modem clicked in,, thats with 2 vmail ports occupied ,, i'm not sure how to delay ring to AA,, to allow ring grp. to answer and help free VMail. ports,, i was busy adding cables and a new phone line for outgoing.Do i have to add a short code for delay to AA? Thanks

ICR fallback destination. If the VM is full it will ring the fallback destination. It is also the AA time out destination.
