We have an IP Office 500 v1 system unit (with expansion board) which has been running on a UPS fine for the past few years but died this morning with a suspected faulty (internal) PSU. Can the PSU be fixed? If we get a second hand unit can we swap out the modules and CF card will it work?

I'm led to believe the PSU on the v1 model is weak so it might happen again. Does anyone know if the v2 units suffer the same issue?
Providing we can get hold of one, reckon we can use a v2 PSU in a v1 chassis?

All our providers want to do is flog us a completely new system!

Any feedback much appreciated!

I've put a V2 PSU in a V1 before and it works. It's does output more but I haven't had anything blow up on me yet. Not saying it will run forever but usually gets me by till can get a V1 sourced.

This is why a maintenance contract is a good idea.
we have replaced quite a few IP500V1 units for customers under maintenance.

when you replace the dead unit the CF card & modules will be fin, you will need to ensure it is up/down graded to the correct firmware level & then upload your backup config.

A Maintenance contract is essential, not a Luxury.
Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear
