Good Day Tech Tips,

We have a customer on Avaya IP Office 500v2 r9.0 with power user licenses. customer just downloaded the Flare experience app and loves it, but wants to be able to use it from outside of the office. Problem is they don't have a VPN nor an IT company, and as easy as it would be for us to set one up, I'd like to keep out of the customer LAN where possible.

That said we have all of the ports forwarded for one-x mobile (which works) but I'm not sure how to get the Flare to work in the same scenario (outside the LAN). My tech is telling my they have to have SIP Trunks in order to be able to use the SIP registrar for remote workers... but I have a feeling he's incorrect.

Can anyone please let me know if it's possible to connect via public IP

You do not need sip trunk licences.
Do you need to setup the sip remote worker part.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

So the SIP remote worker part can be set up regardless of the type of trunks (analog in this case) all that matters is the power user license, correct?

You do need indeed power user licences per user.
Trunks do not matter for this.

Hey Guys,

I've got the flare working from outside now (and my presence) but I noticed that I'm not getting any of the contacts and also the messaging gives me the following error message: The server is not responding. Please check the Multimedia server address in settings.

How can I configure this messaging to work from outside? (which port is forwarded to the messaging service on the IPO/onex)

And is there a way to sync the contacts he has on his softphone or outlook plug-in to the flare experience. Should I use the enterprise contacts? and does any of the aforementioned require back end programming through the manager.

Keep in mind this is from outside of their LAN.

Port to open;

Hi @ipolmans how did you do it.. Did you traverse it thru public ip for the flare work..?

Morning Teletomi,

Exactly, but I'm still not getting the contacts to sync or the messaging to find the server. is there something else I need to set on the back end?

Let me know if you need the port forwarding details.

At this point I'd just like to figure out how to get the IM to work. I'm trying different ports but none seem to work, list of ports as follows: - Which of these do I use for IM and do I need to set anything up in the manager or maybe forward more ports.

5060-5061 - IPO
9443 - 1X
8063 - 1X
8069 - IPO
8444 - IPO
5269 - 1X
8080 - 1X
5222 - 1X
1719 - IPO
1720 - IPO
49152-65534 - IPO

Thanks,

Ipolmans, have you opened all those ports to everyone? (No limitation on IP addresses)

5060 + 507xx-508zx are very attractive to hackers, just so you know.

Kind regards

Gunnar

yeah they're all limited to IP.

I've just run a scan and found that although the telco tells me all those are open the following show as closed:
8069
8444
1719
49152-65534

Would any of these not being open stop the flare from working properly?

for the multimedia messaging which port do I configure in the settings

I think you might need the administration manual of One-X mobile since both application is using sip.

ipolmans, did you read the link i have send you?
