Hello All,

Question Here. I have an Avaya ERS 3545 GTS-PWR+ that is VLAN'ed for Both Voice and Data Networks.

Voice is 192.168.42.XX (VLAN 42)
Data is 192.168.25.XX (VLAN 25)

I have the IPO Patched into Port 1 of the Switch

I have The Data Up-link Going from the ISP to a Router and then into Port 2 of the Switch.

I tell the phones to go on VLAN 42 and they pull all of the correct data and the PC are going on VLAN 25 as they should.

The Issue is our Voicemail Pro Server is wanting to go on VLAN 25 (as it should as its a PC) however we need it on VLAN 42.

To Achieve this we have a second Router that is also up-linked to the ISP, the Voicemail Pro is also patched into this router and then the Router is up-linked to Port 3 on the switch which we told within the switch to be on VLAN 42

This works, but I am sure there is a better way. Networking and VLAN's is not my strong point. Suggestions?

Assuming the switch has both VLANs configured, do the following, assuming the VM Pro server is connected to port 3.

vlan member add 3 42
vlan member remove 3 25
vlan port 3 tagging untagall
vlan port 3 pvid 42

(may need to enter the command vlan configcontrol flexible if you get a message about VLAN configuration being strict)

All this does is switch the native VLAN membership of port 3 from VLAN 25 to 42. If you need to switch that port back, just add port 3 back to VLAN 25 and change the PVID to 25.

biv343: Thank you for the pointer. Would this be done via a command in PuTTy or the Web Interface? Would this eliminate the need for a 2nd up-link and router on the voice side (How it is currently configured)? If so, how would the Voicemail Pro Server get out the the Internet being on the Voice VLAN (We also use this PC for Remote Access)?

Ever considered to configure the LAN card of the PC in VLAN 42?
Most modern NICs have that ability.
If it is a INTEL NIC it can even create a virtual interface for each VLAN (I use that on my Laptop).
You can find the utilties and drivers on the INTEL web site.

Why do you need the pc on vlan 42?

As it is a pc, leave it in vlan 25, so you can also maintain the VM pro from any pc in the data vlan.

VM does not use that much bandwith..

Okkie26: We Separated the Data and Voice Networks, the phone system is on VLAN 42, the VM Pro would need to be on VLAN 42 as well.

Every other PC (Not Part of the Phone System) is to be on the VLAN 25

What I ended up doing if it may help anyone else.
- Port 1 on the Avaya Switch is the IPO LAN, Tagged VLAN 42
- Port 2 on the Avaya Switch is the Customers Data Network, Tagged VLAN 25
- Port 3 on the Avaya Switch is the IPO WAN, Tagged VLAN 25 with an IP Route out the customer Data Network.
- Port 4 on the Avaya Switch is the VM Pro Server Internal NIC, Tagged VLAN 42
- Port 5 on the Avaya Switch is the PCI NIC, Tagged VLAN 25 (VM Pro Server Gateway out the customers Data Network)
