I'm thinking of moving to a 7-digit dial plan, but instead of using the more traditional method of using more digits of the whole telephone number such as:
4-digit: 5701
5-digit: 8-5701
6-digit: 48-5701
7-digit: 348-5701 for say (555)348-5701

I'm thinking of going with a 3-digit site/office number and 4 digit extension.
101-xxxx
102-xxxx
103-xxxx
This way, dropping zero and nine, I can have up 799 offices, each with upto 7,999 extensions.

Seems simply, but am I missing anything that could cause me future problems? What am I missing?

I apprediate your help!
Carson

There is nothing wrong with that idea, what we did in my last job was we use the 1st 3 digit of the DID number for each location. So if office A had number in the 123xxxx range, and office B had number is the 456xxx range, 123 was the prefix for office A ect. Worked out well, and gave us more options to get additional DID for each office that did not conflict with another office.

The only issue with David's suggestion is if you end up with two locations that have the same office cone (NXX).
