I have a digital 8410D phone that is ringing without a call coming into it. The phone rings and when pickup to answer, nothing there. Changed out physical phone, changed cat 5 from phone to wall jack, rewired wall jack, traced and recut down all wiring back to the PBX chassis. STILL having the phone ring for no reason....any and all feedback is greatly appreciated.

Try putting a trace up on the station (list trace station [xxx]). That should tell you where the calls are coming from. Have you changed the port in the PBX thatthe set is connected to?

There are no calls coming in....hmmmmmm.
I will try changing the port that the station is assigned to and see if that changes things. Thank you for replying back with some information and suggestions. I will follow up with what I encounter after the port change.

ports on digital sets do not cause phantom ringing
ringing is caused by a station being called.

A great teacher, does not provide answers, but methods to teach others "How and where to find the answers"
Avaya. Too little or no help? Expensive?
For FAST switch support at bargain rates, give bsh a call.

do you have automatic circuit assurance (ACA) or long call timers enabled on the. Those would generate calls from the PBX to the station.

Where would I look for these parameters\options being set? I do not believe ACA and long call timers are set, but want to be sure and check what u are talking about is not the culprit.

Not enough to do a trace on it. It is at one of my other buildings. Nope, nothing showing up in display when it rings. Just a regular extension of my Definity PBX. Happens when on hook, after a call is made, has no affect. I am told, they hear it ringing in a print room, they go in and answer it...nobody there. It is not a phone used everyday, so I just have if off hook for time being...trying to find the root cause. Happens maybe 3-4 times a day or so. - See more at:
