Has anyone successfully setup Digital set emulation using an Avaya Definity PBX? The old system uses Analog lines to connect to the PBX. The new system will be using a Dialogic D/82J board replacing the old Brooktrout board. Can you use a TN754 board instead of an TN2224 board to emulate a 7434D station?

No you can't the TN754 is a 4 wire card and the 7434D is a 2 wire station type.

How about an TN2181 card instead?

The PBX requirements from the DSE config note for state:

3.0 PBX HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS
• G3, IP600 & S8500/S8700: Digital port (TN2224) to support 7434D/8434D, one per MAS port.

I would not deviate outside of the recommended hardware as you may be denied technical support or void your warranty. If price is a concern, look to the secondary market for a refurb TN2224.

The current system is using a voice bridge with an TN754B board emulating an 7434D station. And it uses an Exchange 2003 for its MAS. The vendor doing the install listed several different boards as being compatible for the MM 3.0 upgrade. I'm wondering if I should just order a refurb TN2224 board despite what they're telling me.

Station types in the 7000 series are 4-wire stations types but can be assigned to 2-wire boards (at least the 7434D/ND can).

The best case scenario is that you can use the 7434ND station type on a 2-wire board (such as the TN2224), but if that is not possible then you can assign it to a 4-wire board.
