Inherited this system to maintain couple years ago, been able to figure most things out.

I have never accessed the media gateway or programmed anything at the main location to be directed to it. Have a big extension move coming up that I will be moving extensions from main location to the branch location where the gateway is at.

What will I need as far as software to connect to the gateway?(Communication Manager, if so which version)

How would I go about directing calls to the moved extensions to the media gateway location and vis versa?

All the programming is done in the main system, if your moving an extension from the main site to the site that has the gateway you would just change the port number on the station form. If your using digital phones for example, and if the port location was 01A0510, you would change it to the port location of of the digital board at the gateway, example is 001v301. Best thing to do is look at an extension at the main site and then one at the gateway to see what I'm talking about.

Code:
add station 2411 Page 1 of 5
                                     STATION

Extension: 2411 Lock Messages? n BCC: 0
Type: 6408D+ Security Code: TN: 1
Port: Coverage Path 1: COR: 1
Name: Coverage Path 2: COS: 1
                                       Hunt-to Station:
STATION OPTIONS
                                           Time of Day Lock Table:
Loss Group: 2 Personalized Ringing Pattern: 1
Data Module? n Message Lamp Ext: 2411
Speakerphone: 2-way Mute Button Enabled? y
        Display Language: english

Survivable COR: internal Media Complex Ext:
Survivable Trunk Dest? y IP SoftPhone? n
                                              Remote Office Phone? n

Also, there should be nothing you do about directing calls to the extensions that are being moved, those extensions will not act any differently being on the gateway. Now if you have a T1 in the gateway you may want to direct any calls that the new extensions make out the T1 located in the gateway.
