It was announced a Month ago that they were about to fall. Also all Nortel / Avaya products that are End Of Life will be removed from their website but that was due to be at a later date. However it might be sooner!.

Official response is that this is for dealing with debt and will come back stronger. For the moment it is business as usual but who knows.... it was business as usual back in 2009....

There are now many good telecom products available for customers these days and Avaya are quite expensive and I think this will be part of their downfall.

With email, text and cell phones being common place now, the importance of a telephone for most customers isn't a high on their list as it used to be unless they have specific requirements such as ACD or emergency service etc.

This is why we have seen a major change with the movement to IP for both phones and now trunks.

Lets see what the next few Months bring out.

Nothing is worse than being on a conference call with someone on their cell phone. No matter how convenient cell phones are, they sound ridiculously awful, especially when people put them on speakerphone. In addition to ACD and Emergency service, you are forgetting retail stores, restaurants, and hospitals....all places I see extensive use of telephony for their day to day use.
