Hi,

I have several Office Workers logged-in with Avaya Communicator and I have a SIP Trunk. Everything in the Primary Server, and then I got some digital extensions in a Expansión System IPO 500 V2.
Is weird because the System Status tell me that anyone with Avaya Communicators are talking with the Connection Type VCM. Why are using VCM resources? The calls are basically incoming for the Sip Trunk and are redirected to groups the the Avaya Communicators are logged-in. I don't see the relation with the VCM in this case.
Any help will be appreciated.

The communicators are SIP phones and not trunks.
SIP to TDM uses a VCM channel.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Thanks for the answer Tlpeter.
So if communicators are Sip phones and there is a SIP Trunk. Should the channels communications of the Sip Trunk in SSA be "VCM"?
I don't understand why is showing Connection Type as VCM.

To be able to use direct media from SIP Endpoints to SIP trunks you must be sure that
- SIP Endpoints are able to connect directly to the provider's endpoint by configuring matching IP routes
- SIP Endpoints and SIP trunks have to use the same voice codec
- voice encryption if wanted must be possible between SIP endpoint and Trunk endpoint.

derfloh,

RTP Relay is direct media from SIP Endpoints?
I mean it because we are having issues with our sip calls: every 3 hours or so our Avaya Communicators phones receive calls from the SIP Trunks without audio, and even digital phones don't have audio calling internally from one to another. When that happens I have to reboot the Primary Server and then it works fine for another 3 hours.
I realize that my SIP Trunk is using VCM as Connection Type in SSA, but some calls are using RTC Relay. And even when there is no audio at the calls sometime some calls are as RTC Relay and they work fine.
So I am starting to think there is an issue with the connection type of my calls, but I don't know how check it and change it.
