A customer has an IPO on R9.1.

They would like to use a deskphone in the office and softphone from home so I bought them the teleworker licence.

This has come up with a licensing issue when I try to connect (either through public IP or local IP using a VPN) and I have since found out that Avaya Communicator can only be used with an office worker or power user licence.

Will any of the Avaya softphones work with a telecommunicator licence with a VPN or through the public IP?

TIA,

Why not just give them an IP phone that they can plug in at home as a remote worker? The softphone is lame.

+1 for AAcon's suggestion

as a homeworker I can tell you I would go mad if I had to use a softphone for more than about 30 min.

they are ok if you are constantly travelling & have to occasionally log in from a strange network (such as a hotel or customer premiss) where carrying abulky phone with you is not practical but for a homeworker situation having a proper phone permanently plumbed into the desk is the way to go.

Whereas as a homeuser who doesnt have an office, but instead works off the sofa with the laptop on a tray on my lap (feet up :)) I love communicator with my bluetooth headset.

Ahh but I normally have a cordless headset connected to my phone, so I can also work from the horizontal position :)

It just shows that different solutions work better for some users than others

Thanks for the help.

We just bought a power user licence for them in the end.

The customer has a taxi firm and he wants to sit in bed answering calls so it is ideal for him to have a softphone

hope he has a noise cancelling headset or mute when using the bathroom... :)
