Avaya+Nortel

Samo

Within 12 months, you won't see the word/phrase/logo "Nortel" used on any of the products now sold by Avaya.

2050 Softphone v4 which was just released has been rebranded to say Avaya.

Yup, and Succession 7 will be the last release on the Nortel Platform. This should put the system at a level to tie into the Aura environment using SIP protocol and then it's bye-bye Grey box, hello Avaya.

Important to note, patches and software downloads are also coming to an end. Unless you are a first responder company (Hospital, Fire, Rescue) if you don't have a software subscription purchased from Avaya (PASS) you will not be able to get patches or any other software downloads.

On the Avaya platforms this goes into effect July 01, 2010 at midnight. Everyone that previously had a login to get patches for the Avaya legacy systems will be cut off. Nortel equipment will follow soon after.

Then in order to get patches, people may be required to upgrade their systems up to the newest platforms.

As of July 2010, no more orders will be taken on the CS1000 Release 4.0/4.5 systems. After July an upgrade to 6.0/7.0 will be required.

Not to big a deal for the Single/Multi Group systems, but those on the Option 11C platform will have to upgrade to the CS1000E system. Essentially decommissioning your system (Opt11C) and replacing it with the new CS1000E system.

I dont' think it's a "The sky is falling" sceanario for the Nortel brand, but those clouds are looking a little low.

Have a good Monday.

Do you mean distributors can't get patches going forward? for the older systems? or newer too?
