I've been back and forth with Avaya for months now about an issue we are having with receiving faxes from outside customers that have Comcast Digital Services as their provider. The issue we are having is receiving 1/4 page, 1/2 page, & blank page transmissions. I have done everything I can think of and it seems like the problem points towards Comcast but I can not prove it. We have Verizon PRI's that terminate to our G450 gateway and have no issues with other customers that use Verizon as their provider also. We ruled the customers network out of the scenario by programming an analog station that resides on a card in the same gateway as the PRI's. The call should come in hit the gateway and terminate to the analog port as a TDM call. I've also had an Avaya RSE along with Verizon out to test the circuits and check the programming on the switch. The only thing they could see different between a good fax call and a bad one coming from a Comcast customer is the Db levels. The Verizon fax transmission registered around -25Db while the Comcast fax transmission was around -32Db. The volume drop was noticeable. Anyone else experiencing this issue or have any thoughts?

Do you know what protocol Comcrap is using for the fax? Make sure it is not g.729. Even g.711 on their network is largly unreliable from my experience. Just my $.02.

I agree. Just frustrating because just 5 miles away at a Nortel site the faxes come through fine. The only diffrence I can think of is how the calls are being routed to get the facility and the equipment it routes through on Comcast's end.
