Hi

I trying to install the following Avaya B179 SIP Conference Phone

I have upgraded the switch to 8.1 from 6.0, on the system I have 9 spare Avaya end point licenses. However when I create a sip endpoint user / extn, Manager returns an error system has exceeded the amount of 3rd party licenses.

I thought in 8.1 avaya end point lics replaced the need for separate 3rd party end points.

Any help gratefully accepted.

You should create normal extn for B179, using regular IP Endpoint.
Make sure every thing matches, name, login code, etc.

Kind regards

Gunnar

Hi Gunnaro

When you say a normal extn do I select None, H232 or Sip, if I select Sip it brings up the error.

H.323 Extension is the one you want:)
Delete the SIP extn if you created one.

Kind regards

Gunnar

I've only installed a few of these, but they've all been SIP extensions that used Avaya IP endpoint licenses. Only been on 7.0 and later releases. They come right up and work easy-peasy.

I must have been sleeping[sleeping2] It is SIP extn, but uses an Avaya IP Endpoint (the one for regular H323 extn)
Sorry for the confusion.

Kind regards

Gunnar
