So I am testing replacing our 4621 phones with the 9608. The problem I have is that the backup fails either after finishing a call or when trying to do a manual backup. I read the articles that are here already and it seems that I have the configuration correct. Can anyone point me into the right direction?

Here is the txt file settings:
################# BACKUP/RESTORE SETTINGS ################
##
## Backup and Restore URI
## URI used for HTTP backup and retrieval of user data.
## Specify HTTP server and directory path to backup file.
## Do not specify backup file name.
## BRURI is not supported on 96xx, 16CC and 1603 SIP phones.
SET BRURI http://IPAddress/PhoneBackups
##
## Backup/Restore Authentication
## Specifies whether authentication is used for backup/restore file download.
## Call server IP address and telephone's registration can be used as credentials.
## 0: Call server IP address and telephone's registration password
## are not included as credentials.
## 1: The call server IP address and the telephone’s registration
## password are included as the credentials in an Authorization request-header
## SET BRAUTH 0
##

There is a folder under called PhoneBackups and for right now I have opened the permission to full for everyone.

Anything else I am missing here?

Are you using IIS as a Web server?

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

There is your issue. Microsoft have removed the ability for anonymous webdav write. This is what the handset uses to write the backup.

Build a local user account on the Web server that will allow write to that folder.

Change your backup url to be

Just changed those settings but still getting the backup failed message but this could be something I am missing in the config. I tried logging in as the user I created and trying to manually create a file in the folder and that worked, however the phone cannot get to it for some reason. I am wondering if there are additional settings I am missing somewhere... back to troubleshooting.

Alright finally figured it out. It was the txt file settings that were preventing it from working. I had to add the forward slash / to the end of the bruri link and un-comment the BRAUTH and set it to 0. All works now.

Here is the final config that worked for me and is now backing up successfully.
